Shuqian Lyu (b. 2003, Suzhou, China) is a filmmaker and media artist based in North Carolina and the Bay Area. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts at Duke University.

Lyu’s practice combines technology, performance, and ethnography. She creates embodied and affective experiences where ecology collides with disruption, and fiction entangles with nonfiction. Through her work, she fosters empathy by illustrating the interdependence between humans and nonhumans, science and philosophy, humor and vulnerability.

Lyu’s work has been supported by Duke Graduate School, the Mellon Foundation; the Cornell Council for the Arts; and academic and professional programs including Cornell in Sundance and the Telluride Film Festival Student Symposium.

Originally from Suzhou, China, she attended at United World College of the Atlantic in Wales. She earned her B.A. with distinction and highest honors from Cornell University. Alongside her artistic endeavors, she is a dedicated triathlete and rock climber.
